Summer Sermon Series Ideas and Graphics

Summer attendance moves. Families travel, the teaching calendar opens up to other voices, and a series that assumes people heard last week doesn't work.

The ideas here are built to survive that. Each week stands alone, so someone who shows up once in July still gets a whole message rather than an argument's middle third.

The work in the gallery is ours. We’ve designed 98 approved pieces that match this topic for churches around the country, and you’re seeing the most recent of them.

The ideas

6 Summer series to steal

  1. 01

    Backyard

A summer-long series on neighbors, hospitality and the people who live within a mile of your building. It pairs well with an outdoor service or a cookout weekend.

  2. 02

    Road Trip

Weekly stops through stories where God met somebody on the way somewhere else. The travel frame gives a guest teacher an easy handoff each week.

  3. 03

    Requests

Take questions from the congregation in June and preach the answers through July. It solves the summer planning problem and it'll draw people back to hear their own question answered.

  4. 04

    Psalms of Summer

One psalm a week, chosen for range rather than order. Standalone by design, which is exactly what a crowd that's moving all summer needs.

  5. 05

    Rest

Four weeks on sabbath, margin and the difference between a break and actual rest. Preach it in July when the people who need it most have finally slowed down enough to hear it.

  6. 06

    Front Porch

A slower series about presence and unhurried conversation. It works for a church that's trying to make its summer feel different from its fall on purpose.

Real work

Summer graphics we designed

Approved pieces from real churches. Title slides, promo sets, print and apparel, at each piece's true proportions because we don't crop work to fit a grid.

Planning

What To Build and When

Lock the summer plan in April. Guest teachers need lead time, and camp and VBS art usually has to be printed before anyone's discussed the series art.

One flexible template beats six finished designs here. A single frame with a swappable background lets a volunteer produce the whole summer in a morning while you're short-staffed.

Every other topic we’ve built is on the sermon series ideas hub.

Summer

Questions Churches Ask

What makes a good summer sermon series?

Standalone weeks. Attendance rotates, so every message has to work for someone who hasn't been in since May.

Should a summer series match VBS?

They can share a palette without sharing a look. VBS art is built for kids, and an adult series that matches it reads as childish rather than as unified.

How far ahead should summer graphics be built?

Six to eight weeks before the first Sunday. Print for camp and VBS runs earlier than that, so those two usually set the real deadline.

Want the artwork handled?

Tell us the series and the date. Your Squad builds the slides, the social set and the print, and you'll spend that week on the message instead of on the artwork.
