Generosity and Giving Sermon Series Ideas and Graphics

Nobody enjoys the giving series, which is exactly why most of them are done badly. The message gets softened, the ask gets buried, and you'll run the same series again next year.

These ideas name the ask plainly and give the design something to do besides apologize for the topic.

The work in the gallery is ours. We’ve designed 9 approved pieces that match this topic for churches around the country, and you’re seeing the most recent of them.

The ideas

6 Generosity and giving series to steal

  1. 01

    First

Four weeks on what comes first in a budget and why. Clear enough that people know what's being asked and the pledge card doesn't have to explain it.

  2. 02

    Enough

A series on contentment that makes generosity the obvious outcome. It works for a congregation that doesn't react well to direct giving talk.

  3. 03

    Open Hands

Weeks on generosity beyond money: time, hospitality, forgiveness. The broader frame gets more people participating in week one, which is usually where these series lose the room.

  4. 04

    Ways to Give

A short practical arc explaining where the money goes and how the giving works. A church that shows the numbers gets more trust and it'll get more giving.

  5. 05

    The Offering

A single-Sunday special offering with two weeks of runway. Focused, and it won't spend a whole month of your calendar.

  6. 06

    Build

A capital campaign arc tied to something people can see. Renderings and a progress graphic'll do more work here than the series art does.

Approved pieces from real churches. Title slides, promo sets, print and apparel, at each piece's true proportions because we don't crop work to fit a grid.

Planning

What To Build and When

Design the commitment card first. It's the piece the whole series points at and it's usually made last, in a hurry, on a Thursday nobody planned for.

A progress graphic needs a plan for updating it. A thermometer that stops moving in week three tells the congregation the campaign's stalled whether it has or not.

Every other topic we’ve built is on the sermon series ideas hub.

Questions Churches Ask

When should a generosity series run?

October and November for an annual push, or January when it pairs with a vision weekend.

How long should a stewardship series be?

Three or four weeks. Longer than that and attendance'll tell you what people think of it.

What should a giving graphic actually say?

The need, the number and the date. Vague generosity language raises less than a plain sentence will.

Want the artwork handled?

Tell us the series and the date. Your Squad builds the slides, the social set and the print, and you'll spend that week on the message instead of on the artwork.
