Community and Belonging Sermon Series Ideas and Graphics

Every church preaches community and most of them do it while there isn't a sign-up open. The series lands, people nod, and nothing on the calendar changes.

These ideas assume the series exists to fill something. Pick the one that matches whatever your church's actually asking people to join this season.

The work in the gallery is ours. We’ve designed 34 approved pieces that match this topic for churches around the country, and you’re seeing the most recent of them.

The ideas

6 Community and belonging series to steal

  1. 01

    One Another

A week per one-another command, taught as behavior rather than as sentiment. It's specific enough that people can tell whether they're doing it.

  2. 02

    Better Together

Four weeks on why following Jesus alone doesn't work. Run it the month your groups open and you'll see it in the sign-up.

  3. 03

    Belong

A series for a church with a lot of new people and not much connection. It answers the quiet question a guest is asking by week three, the one they won't put to anybody.

  4. 04

    The Table

Weeks built around meals in Scripture and what happens when a church eats together. Pairs well with a dinner-based group model.

  5. 05

    Front Door

Three weeks on hospitality aimed at the regulars rather than the guests. It doubles as recruiting for your welcome teams, so you're filling two needs at once.

  6. 06

    Known

A series on being fully known and staying anyway, which is what most people are actually afraid of. Quieter than the rest and it'll move people the most.

Planning

What To Build and When

Open the sign-up the same weekend the series launches. A community series that ends before groups open loses most of the people it'd convinced.

The group sign-up graphic matters more than the title slide here, because that's the piece that turns a message into a name on a list.

Every other topic we’ve built is on the sermon series ideas hub.

Community and belonging

Questions Churches Ask

When should a community series run?

Right before groups launch, usually in late August or early January depending on your group calendar.

How long should it be?

Four weeks. Long enough to make the case and short enough to finish while sign-ups are still open.

What graphics does a community series need?

A title slide, a sign-up graphic, a group leader recruiting piece and something printed for the lobby table.

Want the artwork handled?

Tell us the series and the date. Your Squad builds the slides, the social set and the print, and you'll spend that week on the message instead of on the artwork.
