Web Content Strategist Contractor

The Position

Church Media Squad is seeking a Website Content Strategist Contractor to join our Web Squad during strategy and build phases for church websites. This role focuses on leading the early stages of a church web project by helping define content architecture, write full website copy, and support strategic decisions rooted in clarity, purpose, and ministry goals.

The Website Content Strategist Contractor role is project-based, with available hours varying from week to week. Contractors will be notified in advance of any available hours for the upcoming week, depending on project needs.

All Church Media Squad Squad members operate entirely remotely. Contractors should have their own equipment compatible with an Apple-only environment.


About Church Media Squad:

Church Media Squad is based out of Salt Lake City, UT. The state of Utah has the lowest percentage of Christians in the country, with the Salt Lake Valley having less than 5% who consider themselves part of the Christian faith. Our Founder’s goal and hope is to be part of God's transformative movement in the Salt Lake Valley by making our base of operations here and helping church plants in Salt Lake Valley.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in UX strategy, content architecture, and web content planning.

  • Strong copywriting skills for web, with samples of full website projects.

  • Understanding of SEO requirements and writing for digital church audiences.

  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and interpreting data to support content decisions.

  • Portfolio or sample work required.

  • Experience working in a church or ministry setting is highly valued.

  • Familiarity with Notion, ClickUp, Slack, and Figma is helpful.

Responsibilities:

  • Define website content goals and user pathways.

  • Develop site maps and collaborate with designers and developers to define flow.

  • Write full website copy tailored to ministry language, visitor engagement, and church communication goals.

  • Provide direction on page priorities, calls to action, and homepage messaging.

  • Review analytics to inform content hierarchy or messaging clarity.

  • Use ClickUp to track tasks and communicate progress.

  • Maintain communication via Slack.

Other Details:

  • You will report to the Web Director.

  • Higher internet speeds are required for this contractor position.

  • This is a 1099 Contractor role.

  • Pay Structure: $35 per hour

  • Availability: U.S. business hours, preferably within +/- 2 hours of Central Standard Time (CST).

  • Church Media Squad reviews compensation arrangements periodically and may offer project renewals or scope expansions.
