Case Study: Easter at Newlands

Can design be both modern and meaningful?

Newlands church had an idea—an Easter series that felt fresh and modern, but still communicated the depth and importance of the story they were sharing.

We know your church has had similar conversations—trying to strike a balance between an Easter experience that feels approachable to first-time visitors, yet meaningful enough to convey the weight of the story. This is the tension that ministry staff live in—upholding the integrity and truth of the Bible, while inviting people into it who might be intimidated by it. Take a breather, because there’s a way to do both!

Meet Newlands Church

  • Located in Katy, TX

  • 30 staff members

  • Squad members since 2022

The Plan

Our conversations with the team at Newlands got our gears turning, and together we nailed down a plan for visuals that would invite reflection, celebration, and a deeper understanding of what Easter represents. Our checklist for the visuals:

  • Engage churchgoers and nonchurchgoers

  • Make Easter feel accessible

  • Feel timeless, but still modern

  • Invite deeper connection

The Method

Clean lines: Lean into deco-inspired design and use symmetry to create a timeless yet modern aesthetic that nods to the historical depth of the Easter story.

Approachable colors: A joyful, yet approachable color combination that adds a fresh feel to the elegance of the clean lines.

Symbolic imagery: Incorporate iconography that is subtle yet significant to add imagery that shares a glimpse into the Easter story.

The Results

We know you’re dying to know what they thought of the final product. Truthfully, we can’t stop blushing about what they had to say.

"What can't Ivy do? Nothing. Two fantastic, perfect concepts right outta the gate. This is going to be our best Easter ever because we'll have the most perfect, amazing graphics that will bring everyone and their momma to Newlands Church. Ivy, you're doing Kingdom work. Thank you, friend!"

We’re celebrating with Newlands because…

  • They walked away with a cohesive Easter look for every sign, screen, and space to expand their impact and engage the people God has called them to reach.

  • Their staff has the satisfaction of an Easter project that they can be proud of, without the burnout and stress that they would have had handling it alone.

  • Their Easter graphics are unique to their church culture and align with their vision and mission.
