Social Media Director

The Position

Church Media Squad is looking for a Social Media Director to join our growing Squad. At Church Media Squad, we exist to make church media better by helping local church ministries with all of their media related needs.

The Social Media Director will focus on helping churches communicate with intentionality, connect with their people, and share the Gospel through the platforms their communities use every day.

We are looking for a strategic, empathetic, and visionary leader who understands how social media can serve the Church as a means of building real, lasting connection. As Social Media Director, you'll oversee and guide the long-term success of our social media services, ensuring churches receive strategic, proactive, and personalized support.

In addition to leading, collaborating across departments, and contributing to scalable systems, you will also personally manage a portfolio of client accounts by delivering high-impact strategies, creating posts, and helping churches thrive online through thoughtful, mission-aligned content.

All Church Media Squad employees work completely remotely. Full-time employees receive a company MacBook Pro after their first six weeks. Church Media Squad is an Apple-only environment.

Church Media Squad is based out of Salt Lake City, UT. The state of Utah has the lowest percentage of Christians in the country, with the Salt Lake Valley having less than 5% who consider themselves part of the Christian faith. Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a social media leadership or strategy role (church, agency, or nonprofit experience strongly preferred)

  • Deep understanding of social media platforms and how to use them effectively in a ministry context

  • Experience leading a team or department with a track record of people development and strategic clarity

  • Strong communicator who can lead with both kindness and directness

  • Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to balance details and vision

  • Heart for the local church and a passion for helping ministries flourish

  • Familiarity with these tools is a plus but not a requirement:

    • ClickUp, Vista Social, Slack, Dropbox, Planning Center

  • We are particularly interested in applicants with experience working for a church. This firsthand experience enables us to better serve the church staff we collaborate with daily.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, support, and coach a small team of social media managers to maintain quality standards and meet weekly content deadlines.

  • Content Strategy: Develop content strategies that help churches communicate clearly, engage meaningfully, and stay rooted in their mission.

  • Serve Each Church: Ensure churches feel supported with proactive ideas, consistent execution, and strategic guidance that meets them where they are

  • Collaboration: Work closely with account managers, graphic designers, video editors, and other departments to ensure alignment across media products.

  • Analytics & Improvement: Review monthly performance reports, support improvements in engagement, and identify opportunities for team growth and client success.

  • Client Communication: Maintain professional and encouraging communication with clients, keeping them informed and supported.

  • Content Creator: Serve as a direct contributor by planning content, writing captions, scheduling posts, and submitting asset requests for members.

  • Process Optimization: Lead the refinement of processes, tools, and systems to support scalable, repeatable social media execution.

  • Social Media Expertise: Remain informed on social trends, ministry shifts, and audience behavior to evolve internal best practices

  • Growth & Innovation: Help guide the department through improvements, including automation tools and a more strategic service model, to build long-term health and sustainability.

  • Note: This is a client-facing leadership role over our social media service offering, not an internal position managing Church Media Squad’s own brand or marketing channels.

  • Reports to the VP of Strategy Division.

  • Higher internet speeds are helpful for this position!

  • This is a W2 Employee position with a starting salary range of $60-65k/year commensurate with experience and location.
