Unwrapping the Design with Cina

As the holiday season approaches, your church staff is likely in full planning mode. A crucial aspect of your preparations should be Christmas graphics—for in-person services and online (church streaming and social media). These visual elements can make your services more memorable and serve as a visual cue that helps your people connect deeper with your pastor’s message.

If you're part of a church communication or design team, and you haven’t chosen a Christmas theme yet, we pray this new blog series sparks your imagination and leads you to purposeful ideas for your church! Once you’ve decided, you can trust our designers at TheSquad to take those words and bring them to life through meaningful graphics and design.

Dive in as we sit down with Cina, one of our talented designers, to offer a behind-the-scenes look at her Christmas graphics package for the theme Christmas: The Promise Fulfilled.

The Promise Fulfilled leans into the verse Isaiah 9:6. It shares, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Typography is more than just words on a screen; it sets the tone and can even evoke emotions. Cina explains, "I love the contrast between the bold sans-serif and the delicate script! It brings in some of that Christmas elegance while still keeping it modern."

For those curious, the primary font used for "Christmas" is Stretch Pro, contrasted by the subtler font called Bisous SVG for subheadings.

If you’re a designer reading and want to step up your design game, Cina has a tip: "I LOVE SVG fonts. They give you so much texture and dimension that really adds to a design."

More than Just Decorations

Beyond the fonts and layout, the design features classic Christmas elements like the star and the color red. But they aren't just there for aesthetics. "Since it’s a more modern direction, these symbols really help identify it as a Christmas series," Cina says.

"I also loved the idea of making parts of the star blurry and others more in focus. It's a neat nod to how, in the Christmas story, God brought so many pieces of His story together. His promise is truly fulfilled in Jesus!"

Personal Favorites

All our designers have those elements in their work that bring them a special sense of joy! For Cina, it's the additional icons in the "Birth, Life, Death, Reign" image.

She shares, "I loved the blurred gradient style of the star and wanted to see how it would carry over to other shapes. It really helps flesh out the graphic and shows how it could be used across a multi-week sermon series or even for social media graphics explaining the life of Jesus."

And who knows, we might even see that Christmas ornament on her tree this year!

Inviting Others

During the holiday season, it's like the whole world is a little more open, a little kinder, and way more into community—or find one! It's the perfect time to invite new faces into your church family.

Picture this: Your church members armed with these super inviting, beautifully designed Christmas invites. They could share them with their neighbors while out for a walk, or even hand them to the cashier at the grocery store. During a meal out, giving one to a waiter could be a moment that sparks a conversation and changes someone’s life forever. Physical invitations are such a simple yet impactful way for everyone in your church to spread the joy and meaning of Christmas.

We love the design Cina created! And here’s why—it shares the Christmas service message, it clearly lists out the date and time, and the location is easy to find and read. Most importantly, the church website is written out as well! Potential visitors will visit your digital front door before walking through your real one.

Combining personal invites with eye-catching designs can make the Christmas season truly unforgettable. It's all about making real connections and giving folks a warm invite into a spiritual home.
